A relaxed farm meet-up for parents, babies & toddlers

Come and slow down at beautiful Far Coley Farm, where parents and little ones can meet, play, explore and enjoy a change of scenery.

Play & Chat at the Farm is a relaxed, informal meet-up rather than a structured toddler group or class. There’s no leader, no timetable and no organised activities that you’re expected to take part in.

Parents are in charge. You know your little one best, so you’re free to let them play, explore and move around in whatever way works for you.

Sometimes you might want to chat over a coffee while your little one plays. Sometimes you’ll want to get outside and explore. Sometimes you’ll simply need somewhere lovely to go for an hour or two.

That’s exactly what Play & Chat is for.

A Slower Kind of Baby & Toddler Group

We know traditional toddler groups aren’t for everyone.

They can be busy, noisy and full of organised activities — which can be wonderful, but sometimes you just want somewhere a little calmer.

At Play & Chat, there’s no pressure to join in, no expectation for your child to sit still and no need to follow a schedule.

Arrive, settle in, grab a hot drink and let your little one find their feet.

The aim is simple: give parents somewhere welcoming to go, and give little ones space to play.

    What You Can Expect

🎨 Amerton Glaze Craze at this special session, with the opportunity to create personalised keepsakes

There may also be special sessions and events in the tipi or barn from time to time, making the most of everything Far Coley Farm has to offer.

    Parent-Led, Not Facilitated

Play & Chat isn’t a class and it isn’t a group run by a leader.

There’s no formal programme and no one telling you what to do.

Parents are responsible for their own children throughout the session, and you’re free to use the space however works best for your family.

Think of it more like meeting friends at the farm — except there are other lovely local parents there too.

You can chat, play, have a coffee, explore the farm or simply enjoy being somewhere different.

The Amerton Glaze Craze keepsake activity is completely optional, so you can take part if you’d like to, or simply enjoy the relaxed Play & Chat session.

    Regular Sessions

Play & Chat will run regularly throughout the year, with at least two sessions each month, including a mixture of morning and afternoon sessions.

Different sessions will be available for different ages, so you can choose the one that feels right for you and your little one.

You’ll find the age range clearly shown next to each date.

    Sessions may include:

    0–toddling
For babies who aren't yet confidently walking.

    Walking–3 years
For little ones who are up, moving and exploring.

    0–3 years
Open to all babies and toddlers from birth to three.

A Place to Build Your Village

One of the loveliest things about having little ones is getting to know other parents who are going through the same stage.

Play & Chat is about creating the opportunity for those connections to happen naturally.

You might come along knowing nobody and leave having made a new friend.

Or you might come back each month and gradually get to know familiar faces.

    There’s no pressure either way.

Just a beautiful place to meet, play and chat.

Play & chat at the farm - terms & conditions

    About Us

Please read these terms and conditions before booking and attending Play & Chat at the Farm. By booking a place, you agree to these terms and to following the safety guidance provided during your visit.

    1. Parent & Carer Responsibility

Play & Chat at the Farm is a parent-led, informal meet-up. It is not a childcare service, crèche, class or supervised children's activity.

Parents and carers remain fully responsible for their children at all times during the session.

Children must not be left unattended or allowed to wander away from their parent or carer.

Please keep your child within sight and supervise them appropriately for their age and abilities, particularly when using outdoor areas.

If your child needs additional support or supervision, it is your responsibility to provide this.

    2. Farm & Animal Safety

Far Coley Farm is a working farm environment and there may be animals, farm machinery, uneven ground and other hazards around the site.

    For everyone's safety:

    • Do not enter any animal fields or paddocks.
    • Do not touch, feed, chase, approach or attempt to interact with farm animals unless specifically invited and supervised as part of an organised activity.
    • Please respect all gates, fences, barriers and signs and do not climb over or around them.
    • Children must not be allowed to approach animals independently.
    • Please do not open gates or enter areas that are not part of the Play & Chat session.
    • Farm machinery, equipment, buildings and other farm areas must not be accessed unless specifically permitted.

Animals can be unpredictable, even when they appear friendly. Please help us keep everyone safe by maintaining a respectful distance.

    3. Open Water & Outdoor Areas

There are areas of open water and natural hazards around the farm.

Children must never be allowed to wander or explore the farm grounds without close adult supervision.

Parents and carers are responsible for knowing where their children are at all times and for keeping them away from water, farm equipment, animals and any other potentially hazardous areas.

Please be particularly vigilant outdoors, especially with babies, toddlers and children who are mobile.

The farm is a rural environment rather than a fully enclosed children's play area, and the surroundings may include uneven, muddy, wet or slippery ground.

Please dress appropriately for the weather and countryside.

    4. Staying Within the Play & Chat Areas

Please remain within the areas designated for Play & Chat unless you have been specifically told that another area is open for your session.

The farmhouse, conservatory, tipi, barn and outdoor areas may be used at different times depending on the particular session.

Please do not enter private, working or restricted areas of the farm.

If you are unsure whether an area is available, please ask.

    5. Play Mats & Indoor Play Areas

To help keep the play areas clean, comfortable and safe for babies and toddlers:

    • No shoes are permitted on the play mats.
    • Please remove shoes before your child goes onto the play mats.
    • If it is wet or muddy outside, please remove shoes at the door rather than bringing wet or muddy footwear into the indoor play areas.
    • Please keep food and drinks away from the play mats and children's toys.
    • Please encourage children to eat and drink in the designated areas.
    • Please tidy away toys when your child has finished playing with them where possible.
    • Please clean up any mess your child makes, including spilled food or drink, toys, craft materials or other mess.
    • Please let us know if something has been spilled or needs cleaning so it can be dealt with promptly.

These simple rules help us keep the play areas hygienic and enjoyable for all the children who attend.

    6. Food & Drink

Food and drinks should only be consumed in the designated areas.

Please do not bring food or drinks onto the play mats or around the toys.

Parents and carers are responsible for supervising their children while eating and drinking.

Please be mindful of allergies and avoid sharing food with other children unless you are certain it is appropriate for them.

Please dispose of rubbish appropriately and clean up any spills or food mess.

    7. Illness & Infection

To help protect babies, toddlers, pregnant parents and other families attending, please do not attend if you or your child has a contagious or infectious illness.

This includes, but is not limited to:

    • Vomiting or diarrhoea
    • A fever or high temperature
    • Chickenpox
    • Hand, foot and mouth disease
    • Flu or suspected flu
    • Other known contagious infections
    • Any illness where your child would normally be kept away from nursery, school or other children

Please use your judgement and consider whether your child is well enough to attend a social group.

If you or your child has been unwell, please only return when they are well enough to participate and are no longer considered contagious.

We understand that little ones get poorly and that plans sometimes have to change. However, tickets are non-refundable, including where you are unable to attend due to illness.

    8. Tickets & Bookings

All tickets are non-refundable once purchased.

If you are unable to attend your booked session, your ticket cannot be transferred to or used against a future session.

Tickets are valid only for the date, time and age group for which they were purchased.

If you book the wrong session or age group, please contact us as soon as possible. We will do our best to help where we can, but a change cannot be guaranteed.

Sibling places must also meet the advertised age range for the session. Additional siblings within the correct age range can be added for £2.50 per child.

    9. Age Groups

Each Play & Chat session may have a specific age range.

Please check the advertised age range before booking and only bring children who fall within that range.

    Sessions may be advertised as:

    • 0–toddling
    • Walking–3 years
    • 0–3 years

The age range is there to help us create a comfortable environment for everyone attending.

    10. Respect for the Farm & Property

Please treat the farmhouse, conservatory, tipi, barn, outdoor spaces and farm surroundings with care.

Parents and carers are responsible for ensuring that their children do not deliberately damage property, equipment or belongings.

Please leave the spaces as you found them and follow any reasonable instructions given regarding the use of the farm.

    11. Accidents & First Aid

Parents and carers remain responsible for responding to their child's needs, including minor accidents and first aid.

Please inform the Play & Chat organiser as soon as possible if there is an accident, injury, damage to property or another safety concern during your visit.

In an emergency, parents/carers should contact the appropriate emergency services.

    12. Weather & Farm Conditions

As Play & Chat takes place partly outdoors, conditions may be muddy, wet, cold, hot or otherwise changeable.

Some outdoor activities or areas may need to be restricted or changed for safety reasons.

Please come prepared for the weather and suitable footwear is recommended.

Where circumstances outside our control mean that a session cannot safely go ahead, we will communicate this to booked families and provide information about any arrangements that apply.

    13. Personal Belongings

Please keep personal belongings, bags, phones, pushchairs and other items in the designated areas where possible.

We cannot accept responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged personal belongings.

    14. Respectful Environment

Play & Chat is intended to be a welcoming and friendly space for parents and children.

We ask everyone to treat other families, the farm and the people working there with kindness and respect.

Aggressive, abusive or inappropriate behaviour towards other attendees, farm staff or the Play & Chat organiser will not be tolerated.

    15. Important Safety Reminder

    Play & Chat is a parent-led group.

There is no childcare, and the organiser is not responsible for supervising individual children.

Please keep your child with you and supervise them at all times.

In particular, please remember that this is a farm environment with animals, open water, uneven ground, farm equipment and areas that may not be suitable for children.

Please do not assume that because other children are playing independently, it is safe for your child to do the same.

You know your child best — please stay close, stay aware and keep them safe.

    16. Acceptance of Terms

By booking a place at Play & Chat at the Farm, you confirm that you have read and understood these terms and agree to follow the safety guidance and instructions provided during your visit.

We want Play & Chat to be a lovely place for families to meet, connect and enjoy the farm. Thank you for helping us keep it safe, clean, respectful and enjoyable for everyone.
